Galaxy Can Light Up The Sky Bet

It’s been a couple of years now since we were able to have a running of the Sky Bet chase with the weather having claimed the race in both 2010 and 2011 and with Mr. frost unlikely to disrupt proceedings we’re left with an open and competitive renewal.

In a race where it’s easy to make a case for many, I would have Galaxy Rock right at the top of list. It’s not hard to forgive him a run in the Welsh National last time out under gruelling conditions and If you look to his previous run at Cheltenham in November when winning in impressive fashion he makes a lot of appeal. He may well have had the benefit of a run that day when beating Carruthers and Hey Big Spender but they have gone a long way to holding up the form since and although back in trip here on that run I wouldn’t be concerned. He still looks open to further improvement having only had 8 spins over fences and if getting back on track this time around he looks a big player.

A bit longer in the market one that may be worth a chance is Cape Tribulation. Trailing in behind Calgary Bay last time out at Cheltenham he was a respectable staying on fifth and gave the impression he was crying out for a step back up in trip. With the overnight going stick reading 8.5 it shouldn’t be too bad underfoot for him and on the pick of his form he certainly comes into this with a big chance. It seems a long time now since he spanked up here in the Albert Bartlett Hurdle but that is certainly a mark of his class. Personally I think he was terribly campaigned in his second season over hurdles but he has been minded a bit more over fences and as a result is still very lightly raced and I’d be hopeful of a big run.

1pt win Galaxy Rock 8/1

1pt win Cape Tribulation 14/1
