I intend to have 9 main bets as follows:

Supreme Nov - Get Me Out Of Here
Arkle - Sommersby
Champion Hurdle - Punjabi

QMCC - Master Minded
Bumper - Drumbaloo

Ryanair Chase - Barbers Shop

Triumph - Alaivan
Albert Bartlett - Tell Massini

Master Minded/Big Bucks Double

They will all be EW apart from Master Minded & MM/BB double.

What does everyone else plan to do? I will do other very small bets on the other races and a PP everyday.

With the rare exception of very few years I have a large EW Yankee on four horses which I feel cannot possibly be out of the first three plus an occasional bet on some of the non handicaps such as the races listed below.

So far I'm stuck on two out of the four and struggling with the second pair so I may have a mighty double on DUNGUIB (wherever he runs)and GARDE CHAMPETRE and a bunch or singles

SUPREME : DUNGUIB

ARKLE : if I have a bet it'll be SIZING EUROPE

CHAMPION HURDLE : Ist Choice DUNGUIB Joint 2nd Choices Solwhit or Voler La Vadette. If only one of these three run I'd be pretty confident of that one being the winner

CROSS COUNTRY : GARDE CHAMPETERE

DAVID NICHOLSON : VOLER LA VADETTE with some reservations about the trip, I'd be a lot happier if she ran in the shorter CH. In an ideal world for me Dunguib goes in th Supreme and Voler in the CH

NEPTUNE : Originally I couldn't see past RITE OF PASSAGE but I really fancy PEDLAR'S CROSS after I watched the re-run of his last two wins, he looks a hell of a horse. Undecided

RSA : WEIRD AL or DIAMOND HARRY, I can't see past these two

BUMPER : May give it a miss this year, looks too open, maybe a small ew on Nina Carberry for an interest in the race

WORLD HUDLE : TIDAL BAY, EW if he's anywhere near Big Bucks at the last he wins[/b]

ALBERT BARNETT : If I bet it'll be SHINROCK PADDY or TEL MASSINI

GOLD CUP : No Bet unless there's a late change of jockey Denman

CHRISTIES FOXHUNTER : I always have a good bet on this race as I am a keen follower and punter on Hunter Chases, too early to call it yet, I'm still working on it.
An Siorrac will win at least one Cheltenham Gold Cup

There isn't a hoe Dunguib or Voler la Vadette will run in Champion Hurdle imo

My bets so far
Get me out of here with Paddy Power
Carlito Brigante
Punjabi e/w
Had a double of Rite of Passage(16/1) and Pandorama

Don't know what I will do now. Fancy Captain Cee Bee but have missed the price. Voler la Vadette is interesting

Before i contribute to the humble pie thread
My main bets are as follows;-
Arkle- Somersby, 25"s to 10"s a place will save the day!
Tataniano at 16/1 would cover all losses too! My Banker of the meeting will either set me up for a brilliant festival or an early disaster!!
Champion Hurdle-Celestial Halo, 20"s to 10"s,again a place will do! I still expect a big run! Medermit and Go Native will both show me a profit if they can fill the places!
Champion Chase- Forpadydeplasterer,46 to 16"s, i still cant believe connections think beating Master Minded is possible when the Ryanair looked right up his street! I have also took 6"s without the Master! Twist Magic and Kalahari king will still show a profit if they win!!
Gold Cup- Imperial Commander, 36 to 12"s, i have a very high opinion of this horse and he too will put me in the 4 figure profit brigade if he can somehow beat the big 2! Albertas run and Calgary Bay are my support team and have backed them both without the big 2 at 25"s and 50"s!
Ryanair- Voy Por Ustedes, 16"s to 8"s, so long as the ground isn"t over watered Simon, this fellow would give me a huge sense of satisfaction as i am convinced he is not a spent force! Albertas run at 90"s would be a brilliant result too!
These are my 5 main bets all 3 figure wagers! I have a dozen more Ante-Post bets on at fancy prices but to smaller wagers, including Weird Al,Weapons Amnesty,Tidal Bay, Tell Massini, Nenuphar collonges, Sir Harry Ormesher, Tarotinoetc! I have currently lost a total of £320 in Non Runners! Good Luck to all!

My bets are listed in the AP register. I'm confident I have the RSA and Champion Hurdle sorted as I have managed to get some on Punchestowns after the scare the other day to go with my AP on Long Run in the former and in the latter I have wagers on Go Native and Zaynar hopefully covered with a free bet on Solwith via Ladbrokes customer service.

So i'll be looking for one of Tranquil Sea, Sizing Europe, Karabak (outright and w/o the fav) or Denman to win for a healthy profit.

At longer prices I have Planet of Sound, Cooldine and James De Vassy in the Coral Cup.

I'll be backing Kalahari King on the day as I think he'll drift as money comes for Master Minded. And I'll also be punting Reve De Sivola each way in the Baring Bingham.

Will likely bet on every race apart from the Foxhunters

Have antepost bets on probably 10+ races already

Key horses for me

Dunguib 3/1 win
CCB 25/1 e/w
Quel Esprit 10/1 e/w
Mourad 16/1 e/w
Kalahari King 12/1 + 7/1 win
FPDP w/o MM 10/1 e/w
Tidal Bay 10/1 e/w
Planet of Sound 16/1 + 12/1 e/w
Carlito Brigante 10/1 + 8/1 e/w
Imperial Commander 20/1 + 14/1 e/w

The performances of these horses will alrgely determine my week. My favourite bets would be Captain Cee Bee, Quel Esprit, Carlito Brigante and Mourad. Think all of these will be hard to beat. Will also likely be backing the likes of Ashkazar, Chapoturgeon, Song of Songs etc. in the handicaps

Can't see me going over the baker's dozen barrier. Maybe 10 bets and 3 place lays, namely Dunguib, Captain Cee Bee and Long Run.

General Miller EW, Dan Breen place, Riverside Theatre, Go Native, Garde Champetre/L'Ami + Voler double, Master Minded + Big Buck's double, Quel Esprit, Weird Al, Beshabar and Barber's Shop. Done. 13.

I'll probably be having around 50 to 60 bets in 18 to 20 races. Usually have bets in around 4 races each day, with usually up to 4 bets per race. Sometimes 1, sometimes 5, depending on how many horses I consider value. One or two will be main bets, may be a bet to win a smaller amount, may be a saver bet or two.

Already got 18 bets on.

Supreme - Get Me Out Of Here 10/1 ew
Arkle - Crack Away Jack (oops), Somersby 20/1. Strange, I thought I'd considered Somersby but decided against it. Only found out the other day I had in fact took the 20/1. Alzheimers eh!
William Hill Chase - Bensalem 7/1
Champion Hurdle - Binnocular (wish I hadn't) 6/1, Celestial Halo 17.5/1, Solwhit saver.
Neptunes - Peddlers Cross 12/1 ew
RSA - Punchestowns 100/30, Long Run 5/1
Queen Mum - Kalahari King 6/1 ew
Ryanair - Schindler's Hunt 16/1, J'Y Vole 16/1, Tranquil Sea 5/1 saver
Stayer's Hurdle - Big Buck's 9/4
Triumph - Soldatino 10/1 nrnb
Gold Cup - Cooldine 14/1
Foxhunter - Roulez Cool 3/1 nrnb, bog.
value is everything

Don't really like backing EW.

Cross Country - Garde Champatre
Arkle - Captain Cee Bee
RSA - Diamond Harry
Champion Hurdle - Zaynar
Champion Chase Big Zeb & Kalahari King
Neptune Investment - Quantitative Easing
Coral Cup (I think) - Exmoor Ranger

Big Bucks/Garde Champatre/Dunguib treble

On holiday and not that fascinated by the graded contests from a betting point of view (which is how I usually am but I understand many people do like them, alas Gingers post above), so these are my bets then...

1st Lucky 15 (e/w)
For The Staff (Coral Cup)
Kornati Kid (William Hill Handicap Chase)
Sounds Of Jupiter (Fred Winter)
Ma Yahab (Kim Muir)

2nd lucky 15 (e/w)
Door Boy (Jewson Handicap Chase)
Bahrain Storm (Vincent O Brien handicap)
Starluck (Champion Hurdle)
Far More Serious (Kim Muir)

Door Boy (Jewson) NRNB Single
Palypso De Creek (Pertempts Handicap) NRNB Single
Consigliere (Byrne Plate) NRNB Single

Not sure what races the last two named will actually run in but NRNB covers me for that. Door Boy in the Jewson is probably my strongest fancy of the festival at the prices so bet him as a single.

One NR already in a yankee at the 5 day decs, hopefully the last!

Hope I haven't got myself worked up prematurely this year.

Edit-seems from the trainer like Far More Serious doesn't run in the Kim Muir (2/2 NR's), but PDC goes for the Pertempts, so I've got something right.

I've done my first bets on the festival, but there will be a multitude of others over the course of the meeting! Just thought I would have a go at an ew multiple on horses with a decent chance of getting placed.

Done an ew Super Heinz on the following horses and the ones marked with an * I have done ew singles on as well.

Riverside Theatre (Arkle)*
Medermit (Champion Hurdle)*
Weird Al (RSA)*
Kalahari King (Queen Mother)
Voy Por Ustedes (Ryanair)*
Tidal Bay (World Hurdle)
Cooldine (Gold Cup)

Also done a Lucky 31 on 5 bankers just in case the unthinkable happens and they all go in for once!

Dunguib (Supreme)
Quevega (Mares)
Master Minded (Queen Mother)
Big Buck's (World)
Kauto Star (Gold Cup)
