I think Schindlers Hunt is always going to ne one of those horses that gets overlooked throughout a season and causes a few surprises, hopefully at a decent price each time.

Dunguib set to make his hurdling debut at Galway on Sunday. Can't for the life of me understand why they're going to Ballybrit with him. I think they'd be far better off waiting for Punchestown on Tuesday or Wednesday. He should win with his head in his chest regardless.

Rest of the weekend's action looks fairly ordinary. Dessie Hughes looks to have found a nice little race to reintroduce Siegemaster at Wexford tomorrow.

Entries for Punchestown next week look very promising. Captain Cee Bee, Pandorama, Jered, China Rock and Venalmar all entered up in beginners chases. Shinrock Paddy is in a few of the maiden hurdles. Could be a fascinating novice hurdle on Wednesday if Some Present and Sweeps Hill take each other on.

I argued for O'Connell to keep the ride on Dunguib last season but not sure how long he will maintain the partnership this season. Huge amount of pressure and his career has not really progressed after Dunguib's Punchestown 'win'.

I think Checkpointcharlie is more interesting than Siegemaster although probably not for tomorrow. I put him up as a likely National horse last season and no surprise if that's where he ends up.

He's very unexposed that Checkpointcharlie. That little bit of extra chasing experience that Siegemaster has though should see him home even allowing for the 4lbs he has to give the Swan horse. Hard to know how Dessie will campaign him this year. He wouldn't be good enough in the Grade 1s against the likes of Notre Pere & Cooldine. Possibly might be using tomorrow as a prep for the Troytown/Hennessey?

I think O'Connell will do alright on Dunguib. He's a capable horseman and has plenty of experience over obstacles - much more than Pat Mullins had on Cousin Vinny last year for instance. The horse also has a much better action than Cousin Vinny who always looks to move a bit akwardly to me. He should jump fine.

Dunguib done what was expected off him. Bookies cutting him for Cheltenham on the back of beating a load of goats in a Galway maiden hurdle are taking the pish though.

Siegemaster won nicely down at Wexford yesterday. I'd like to see him aimed at the Hennessey but I think Dessie is going sending him to that chase for second season chasers up at Down Royal next.

Good to see Aranleigh return to the track with a win. Could possibly make up into a horse for the Cheltenham four miler/Irish National later on in the year.

Pretty professional performance by Luska Lad in the opener. Will almost certainly want 2m4f on quicker ground. Really liked the performance of the second - Gigginstown may have found another smart one. Fingers firmly crossed they keep Loughran on board.

Taking Stock should win...if the vibes of this horse are to believed he should sluice up after a good few sessions of schooling.

Also Edward O Grady has the John Oxx's Alavain spelling?

For the triumph Hurdle......there seems to be some cash down already if reports are led to believed.

Edward O'Grady also has an interesting runner in the bumper

In Compliance back at Thurles tomorrow after two years off the track. Has moved to Dessie Hughes from Mike O'Brien.

The beginners chase that follows looks a hot contest. Venalmar makes his long awaited return with Zaarito, Whatuthink, Essex, Bob Lingo and Give It Time also declared.

Al Eile, Rite Of Passage, Clopf and Donnas Palm are all down to run in the November Handicap on the level at Leopardstown tomorrow too.

Heard that one alright. He has some very decent flat form and EOG is supposedly quite bullish about him. Coming from Currabeg, he won't have been overtrained and there have been some good hurdlers come out of Oxx's over the last few years - Ebaziyan, Ebadiyan, Mourad.

Willie seemed very upbeat about that half brother to Zaynar he's picked up from France.

Hopefully we'll have won or two good juvenilles this season. Irish horses have been out with the washing in the Triumph Hurdle since the year Scolardy won it really. Think that was the same year that Balapour came fourth. 2002 maybe?

In Compliance still retains plenty of ability looking at that run. Interesting to see how Dessie will campaign him from now on. Presumably he'll be aiming to keep Siegemaster, Rare Bob and In Compliance apart.

In Compliance ran a cracker .....but Bob Lingo needs a different rider, Russel is incapable of Settling a hard puller like him. Paul Caberry/Paul Townend or Ruby would do the job much better as they usually ride that style. He could be a very good chaser on a decent surface but no shame in losing today.

Like the winner of that race, very impressive and could go well over longer distances.

Nothing really caught my eye as such today other than In Compliance....Zarrito is a dog and gave young guy a terrible fall...Venelmar was given a very easy time and i would imagine there is alot more to come.

I see Nicanor has new owners....must have got sick of Meade's incapability to keep his best horses sound.

Sharkey has a better horse than Nicanor with Paul Nolan now - Noble Prince. I think he could go right to the top. Interesting to see if they run him at Navan on Sunday.

I wouldn't be getting giddy about the form of that beginners chase either. Zaarito is too small for fences. Bob Lingo, I don't know what to make of. Whatuthink will win chases but I couldn't have him for an Arkle or a Sun Alliance. He might win the Drinmore if Pandorama and Sizing Europe go elsewhere and if Cousin Vinny isn't ready in time, but that's about as good as it will get for him I'd say. Venalmar was a huge disappointment IMO. He was obviously in need of the run but I thought he'd put up a better show than that. I'd give him another chance before writing him off completely though.

Rite Of Passage was fierce impressive at Leopardstown. Could be a Ballymore horse when he goes over timber.

There are loads of serious horses coming through......

That Taking Stock is a dog jumper...would have expected much better coming from Kiely's
