Brilliant coverage by Thommo on the opening of the Ascot gates this morning. Attempting to film the first person to enter, they stood by the exit gate in error. Their stooge walked through, as the first person to enter, but of course his ticket didn`t work,as he was trying to enter via the exit. Oops!!! A quick switch to the right gate by the camera, but by this time a load of people had entered.Whole plan cocked up. Typical Thommo

Sorry to spoil a good rant but not Tommos' fault on this occasion .... he had an Ascot official with him who pointed him in the direction of that particular gate.

It does sound like 'typical Tommo' and I'm sure he had a good laugh about it, as did many others.

Always loved the guy. Of course, his light-hearted approach to the sport is not everyones cup of tea. After all, this racing game is serious business and should be presented in such a manner.

Keep p***ing people off, Tommo. That always puts a smile on my face, too. :D

I love it.

So typical Ascot official then ... that sounds more like it.

Now goodness knows why people jump at the chance to have a go at Thommo, he always seems a nice enough chap. Very entertaining when he does his compere thing at Newbury. That's the thing, he's an entertainer, a presenter, just what the sport needs.

Actually you look like the fool thinking that it was the presenters fault :P  . It does annoys me too the way people slag him off when look at the C4 coverage without him... Zzzzzzzz. He's really good for the sport imo.

Oh I like him too, very nice guy. Just reflects on his often pantomime character.
If you were to be serious, just feel even "The Presenter " could tell entrance from exit, by the name clearly displayed, and the fact there were 200 queueing by one and none by the other

I had a quick chat with Tommo at Bath on Saturday he's a top bloke if you ask me seemed more than happy to interupt his ATR prep work. He then spent most of the afternoon hounding pretty young women with a camera woman in toe quality from Tommo!

I am surprised at how many people dislike Thommo.

I think he is excellent value.

Nice bloke too.

Same same Gaz can't for the life of me why anyone would dislike Thommo.

He's a spot on commentator, a lovely guy, a fair judge and pleasant listening.

Even if he did make a balls up, which apparantly he didn't, so what? That's entertainment.....ever seen the Jackie Chan take outs?

I was going to mention that.

I like him as a presenter but I accept he's not everyones cup of tea.

But he's a good commentator isn't he?
I've never heard him make any major mistakes & he keeps a good rhythm.

Not a fool, just a jolly nice chap. Once spent some time speaking to him at Towcester, could not have been more pleasant. Very self effacing and does send himself a fair bit and a very good caller of a race.

Put Bob in the Tommo fan section of the forum wont you.
