Had a Lucky 15 at Goodwood today

Ghimaar (took a 8/1)
King Torus (SP 11/4)
Canford Cliffs (SP 4/6)
Verdant (took 11/2)

Only had £3.00 (20p win), but it returned just over £201, so chuffed to bits, biggest win for quite a few years.

Pleased for you, sir, but nobody will find this news/thread remotely interesting.

Try putting up your tips in advance of the races in the designated thread (Lays and Plays).

You don't often make me laugh, AJ, but I have to admit the brevity of your response did raise a chuckle over here in pork pie country

Actually, I find it interesting. Well done, matey. But I appear to be in a minority of one on this thread, so maybe that legal saying about exceptions making bad law applies, and I should belt up. But I'm cussed.

It cheered me up. I squeezed the last two £2 bets I could, out of my missus, last Saturday. But it was too late by then, as my winners had flown. I felt twitter and bisted.

The bad news for Racing plc just keeps on coming.

That's another score off the levy board budget. Looks like it'll be rationed malted milks next year.

I hope you're pleased with yourself mightyironman.

Well done in catching that 8/1. Earlier in the day I would've said you were taking a mighty risk with Canford Cliffs but it turns out I know nothing about flat racing!

I have to say, I gave up on Lucky 15's a while ago, the last time I won any money on one it was only because the bookie pays 3x the odds for one winner. Although it could be seen as an example of betting shops in decline. It was admittedly late on a Sunday afternoon but the girl on the door had to unlock it to let me in!

Perhaps not thread worthy but I hope to make it so:

Does anyone else have trouble picking horses in advance?
It's a serious worry for me; I can walk into a shop (or online) not much before the off & I get a pretty good strike rate. Any more than 10 minutes beforehand & I struggle considerably. I could do well on Lucky 15's if I didn't have to pick them all at once!

Yes. This Saturday, for example - leaving aside TAPK's multiply-napped Odds and Evens - at least two tipsters gave tips in a format I've come to have the greatest respect for, but I'd already done my dash before the day.

One tipster seemed to imply that Critical Moment would use it as a confidence booster before flyin higher. Roxy Flyer, 16/1, was also tipped as a likely local trainer's winner.

Also, by taking AP prices on the more fancied horses, I miss anomalous bookies' early prices in the papers on the Saturday morning.

i suppose because you have time to study the racecards you want to bet in right down to the bone. but if everyone thought like that, we'd all be millionaires. Same as reading trainers comments on their horses in the racing post. There will always be an upset, so i tend to take very little notice of what people say in papers and internet etc.
