Better commentators than Benaud: CMJ, Agnew, Boycott, Atherton, Blofeld, Johnstone, Gower, Holding, Lawry, (Barry) Richards, Slater.

Worse: Botham, Chappell, (Mark) Taylor, Law, Hussain, Willis, Allott, Tufnell, Lehmann.

Benaud was good enough, but the 'holding your counsel' act became overdone, so that every utterance from the man was regarded as being some supreme cricketing 'bon mot'.  He was OK, nothing more.
