It can be argued that man’s instinct to gamble is the only reason he is not still a monkey up in the trees.

After nigh on three years of hurt you've finally set me on the path of enlightenment Nathan, I'm forever in your debt

Heyoop!! I've found the like button. It's showing in a blue box today, but it wasn't there yesterday. Mystery has solved itself! :)

Hey Nighthorse. I certainly wouldn't mind one of those - especially if there's a guy attached to it! :D[/quote]

Hey Reetlass, hadn't really thought about it that way!! :D Definitely see your point on that! Hope it actually might be a guy, rather than a horse!!!!!!

But at least if he didn't phone you, you would know it was only cos his feet were too big to dial, rather than he just didn't want to!! Which means he can't order flowers either!

Actually, on a slightly more serious note, I am only a "happy hacker" type of rider, but have ridden several stallions (Arab or Barb or X) on holidays in Egypt and N Africa, and have found them all to be total sweethearts, giving me no trouble at all. However, some mares have given me the impression that they are not entirely happy with me. As a rider, have you experienced anything like this at all? I firmly believe (from riding in England as well) that boy horses (inc geldings) like me a lot more than mares do. Is there any evidence to support this or am I imagining it?

When betting, I have often gone for a boy ridden by a girl/lady, and it has quite often paid off. 8)

Happy hacking did it for me. I did take several riding qualifications in my younger days, but never went on to make use of them. Also did a couple of local hunter trials, but was always a bit too nervous really.

I've never ridden a stallion, but have friends that have ridden/hunted them, and unless you knew beforehand they were entires, you wouldn't have known from their behaviour, perfect gents.

I always had a bit more success with geldings over mares, maybe it's to do with pheramones or something. I always went with the notion that you could tell a gelding what to do, where you always had to ask a mare. :)

Sounds like the story of my life, Nighthorse, but that's another story.

So if you aren't on Twitter, how come you are frequently quoting from peoples Twitter feeds?

I hope you aren't just stalking!!!! :D

I'm not on Twitter as a member or contributor but I do sometimes look, for interest and out of misplaced curiosity, via Google at the feeds of people I know, or know of, for any snippets of information. I don't like to miss out on gossip.
Occasionally, among all the mind-numbingly tedious, self-absorbed, self-indulgent and vacuous tweets, there might be an item of significance or interest.
An example of this might be the welcome discovery on one feed of the news that there was a large puddle outside Nottingham racecourse! I wouldn't have known about this momentous fact, and been treated to a photo of said puddle, unless I had meandered on to that Twitter feed via a link elsewhere. :D
Now whether that counts as stalking, I don't know.
Virtually everyone I work with and those involved in racing generally seem to be on Twitter so I'm very much in the minority.
I read a very interesting article recently that everyone who worked in fields involving gathering or processing of information should be on Twitter because that was THE place where people made announcements about themselves (including pop stars splitting up with their girlfriends, wives, husbands etc).
Whether I like it or not, that's how people choose to communicate these days so, to be honest, a snoop into the Twitter feeds of public figures proves irresistible sometimes...
