Loving the new Sporting Life site. Everything the Racing Post site should have been but isn't
'And Desert Orchid's beginning to get up as they race towards the line... Simon Sherwood punches the air. Dessie's done it...

Agree 100%. I thought the old site was pretty good but this is a step up.

Didn't realise this update was coming. It looks much, much better.

Took me by surprise but also took me only seconds to work out what was where..love it!!!!!

It also seems much faster but time will tell on that score.

I dispise how I and others have been treated by the racing post with the new membership on offer and after viewing the sporting lifes new website I shall not be renewing my £20 a month membership by the coporate capatlism expecting me to fund the services of the TV channel that hosts such shite like The Couch or having to pay to view a bloodline.

Good riddens to the racing post from one of you most loyal customers.

I had been told it was changing today but had clean forgotten about it until I opened it this morning.

It has a much cleaner, less cluttered, feel but at the same time it has retained all the same sections, so those used to the old format should have no problems navigating.

Conversely navigation looks to be intuitive, so newcomers should be able to find their way around quite easily.

All in all a textbook example of how to relaunch a web site without alienating everyone.

Few small niggles like no auto refresh on an iPad and the racecard silks are still not as good as on other sites but overall it looks great.

Winner.
So we will batten down the hatches, throw the children overboard, lock up anyone who protests and continue to elect liars who double cross us. Another day in the Banana Republic.

I'm sure there are some content improvements somehwere, but it looks to me like nobbut a new font and cascading stylesheet.

(And the calendar on the video form is gone, which is major, though I'm sure they'll fix it. They'd better.)

Verdict: meh.

Tidy, unfussy, attractive and very quick to load but it's annoying that the 'Fast Cards' formatting has been buggered around with as it's no longer straightforward to copy and paste them to a spreadsheet. Still given a fair wind and a burning of the midnight lamp I should be able to sort it out

I'm a Luddite............I don't like it

It appears to be all about betting

You can't open the horse form pages without turning off your pop up blocker

There doesn't appear to be any Official Ratings stated in handicaps either in the results, on the cards or on the horse form pages..............

You can't turn off the 'silks' to avoid clutter as you can on the old racecards

You can click on 'Horse' at the top of the racecard to put the horses in alphabetical order but there doesn't seem to be any way to go back to weight order

There's no betting forecast

If you get to the horse form page you can't hover over the races and get in-running comments like you could on the old form pages - you have to open each past race in turn

Half the page is taken up with a panel about forecasts and tricasts

That's what I've noticed in the first few minutes attempting to look at tomorrow's Newbury card

This is what I'm looking at for the 8.00pm at Newbury tomorrow

Are you all seeing something else ?
