Hello Back in october last year Weapon's Amnesty was ruled out for a second consecutive season I haven't heard anything since ( He is still with us I hope). Any way i think he would be a great shout in the Gold Cup 2 runs at Cheltenham 2 wins both over 3 mile. When he won the RSA the 2nd was Burton Port and the 3rd was Long Run they haven't done too badly since. He has had 14 career runs won 5 2nd 4 and 3rd 1. He will be 10 next year. Davy Russell will have a very hard decision to make next season. If they all make it and the Gold Cup is there aim Gigginstown stud could have Sir Des Champs, First Lieutenant, Last Instalment and Weapon's Amnesty not forgeting Quito De La Roque and Bog Warrior. It must be great to have those horses.

To expect Weapon's Amnesty to come back and be competitive against the younger brigade coming up through the ranks is one helluva big ask.
His defeat of Long Run looks good on paper but in reality Long Run beat himself and has come on tons since those days. Burton Port finishing 2nd would suggest Weapon's Amnesty wasn't far off top class but novice staying form can be terribly misleading.
Weapon's Amnesty's forced holiday won't have done him any good and at 10 years of age the chances of him retaining his form are surely remote at best?

Would have to side with Hurdy here. It's a shame really because for each of the last couple of years you could argue that he would have had the Gold Cup at his feet. Unfortunate that such a promising horse has probably had his best days stolen from him.
