After the ticket fiasco we have selection blips, this Olympics could be a bit of a laughing stock.

Anybody looking forward to it or thinking it could be a bit of a disaster?

Everyone turned up to see the 'torch's in Taunton and watching the news, everywhere else had major turnouts as well which suggests people are interested.

Personally, I'll probably just watch a bit of the Athletics if I've got nothing else to do.

I've been involved in Olympic projects over the past year so I'm very much taking an interest in it. I did a fair bit of work involving the Shooting venue at RAB Woolwich so I'll be keeping an eye out for the events there. First gold medal of the Games will be awarded in the Women's 10m Air Rifle on July 28th.

Occasional TRFer Lee MacKenzie will be doing commentaries for the International Broadcasting feed, covering a number of minority sports for internatrional TV audiences. I presume the Shooting would be a possible for him.

There are currently some very nice looking bets:

Perry Shakes-Dreyton EW at 11/2 in the ladies 400mH - she has hit form at the right time!

Culson to win the 400mM with Dai Greene struggling to recover after his injury, 5/4 looks a nice price in trebles and above.

Mo Farah at 6/4 for the 5000m and 7/4 the 10,000m, he will win at least one and hopefully both!

400mW looks like Ohurugu at 8s to be a decent EW bet!

With the rain possibly staying Goldie Stayers could go well in the javelin too at any price you like.

Good luck all

Well, the other teams may have laughed at our selection process but we're getting our own back now, only 17 of 50-odd security staff turned up for work at one of the Olympic hotels and we've employed mystery tour coach drivers who are taking them from Heathrow to Stratford via Hastings.

Once the vast army of volunteers start to decide that it's a bit of a pain really and no fun working for nothing and decide to bale out, knowing there is no penalty for them doing so, it could get messy.

I can find no positive optimism for these games at all and will be surprised if we get any golds. Good luck to anyone getting involved on any level.

Unless they drop the baton, the Jamaican men's relay team are an absolute certainty for 100m gold - even at the cramped odds of 1/3. With Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake in their team, they are home and hosed as far as I am concerned. I regard it as buying money.

Speaking of which; those two aforementioned gentlemen face each other in the 100m. Blake has already beaten Bolt this season on more than one occasion. I think he can beat Bolt again - when it matters. I think Bolt is now more suited by 200m and I take his younger compatriot, Yohan Blake, to win Gold in the one hundred. At 13/8, he'll do for me.

I wouldn't take 1/3 in a 4 X 100M even if they had the best four runners in the World. Just too many previous instances of decent runners failing to get the baton round.

Blake as far as I can see was and is 7/4 with Coral.

I have to say after the mystery coach tours, security staff debacle, selection stupidity and flag fiasco, the opening ceremony has been rather impressive.

Maybe I'm wrong, we could just put on a good event.

A quarter in and we have a silver and two bronze with some of our reps either past their best, suffering from recent exertions or injured, dodgy selections don't help.

Still, at least we have found a use for our excess highly trained front line soldiers - watching gymnastics :|

Venues look good though.

Haven't watched much of the coverage so far other than a bit of late-night basketball - a couple of those Australian women could easily double up for the weightlifting.

On top of the 'empty' arenas seems like a disappointing start for GB particularly if they are to have any chance of finishing third. Perhaps we will be one of the few host nations who fail to increase their medal tally.

Hopefully, we will find a few 'five-minute heroes' sooner rather than later.

...and appropriately, like the proverbial London buses, two golds turn up in quick succession!

Well done to the rowers, and there's more to come from a very decent squad.

Sheer class from Bradley Wiggins, who has swept all before him in recent weeks. Not far away was the champion in waiting, Chris Froome, who will surely land big titles in future.
