Does anybody know of pubs named after Derby winners.
Here are a few that I know of:
Blink Bonny 1857 - Alnwick
Amato 1838 - Epsom
Little Wonder 1840 - Harrogate
Kettledrum 1861 - Burnley
Ladas 1894 - Epsom
Running Horses 1828 - Mickleham
(this is named after the 2 horses Colonel and Cadland that "dead heated" portraits of each horse are depicted on each side of the inn’s sign.

I'm so relieved that you mentioned Blink Bonny, because we drove past the pub a few years ago and went in to see what links the area had with the horse [can't remember the answer] and it would have driven me mad not being able to remember which horse it was!

No surprise to see the latest one was over a 100 years ago, can't see it happening these days.

There are several Golden Fleece watering holes but I doubt they got their name from the 1982 winner. Blue Peter and Flying Fox also occur, the latter is on Watling Street. I suppose the Harvester chain wouldn't count?
Without reading Roger Mortimer's excellent tome again, has there been a Derby winner named after a pub?

They also serve who only stand and wait.

I'm currently sat supping in the Benny The Dip Arms. No, i'm lying. Whens the next time you'll see a 2.5L Dante winner go off at 11's at Epsom by the way.

Likewise Spread Eagle (1795)
Not a Derby winner, but there's a pub called The Brigadier Gerard in York, which I've long thought is a tad ironic given the city was the scene of his sole defeat. Plenty of Brigadier memorabilia inside and I recommend the Dark Mild at £1.35 a pint
As it 'appens there's a Golden Fleece and Spread Eagle in York too, but the former pre-dates the inaugural Derby by about 200 years!
There's a Voltigeur Inn at Spennymoor, Co. Durham. The 1850 winner was owned by Lord Zetland whose seat was Aske Hall, Richmond and bred at Hart Stud, Hartlepool; both in the vicinty of Spennymoor

Slightly off topic, but the Why Not Inn (named after the 1894 Grand National winner) is situated just round the corner from where my Nan lived for many years.

Camelot Arms opens Saturday afternoon
Never argue with an idiot. He'll drag you to his level and beat you with experience, and onlookers won't be able to tell who is who.

There's a Whirlaway in Chicago. http://www.whirlaway.net/about.html
1860 Epsom Derby winner Thormanby has an entire island named after him in British Columbia. Nearby are Merry Island (named after Thormanby's owner), Buccaneer Bay (named after an also-ran in the Derby), Epsom Point and Tattenham Ledge. All were named by Captain G.H. Richards.

Isinglass (1893) is made from the swim bladders of fish & is used to help clear cask conditioned beers, obscure & nothing to do with the original question I know, but it may pop up in a pub quiz!
