the race is in the first saturday in march every year.
sterwins a grade 2 canadaian horse won the race last year.
jonny murtagh place 2nd.
hearing rumours of darley stables to send a horse for the sandylane barbados gold cup next year.
the barbados turf club maybe holding back that info.
can anyone here tell me if they know of that.

Wildest racing I ever saw the Bajans were swinging from the rafters of the stand celebrating when they won, Fantastic atmosphere but a bit like a flapping track in comparison to Epson Downs unless it changed over the years.....did see old Scobie Breasley when I was there, who just trained the winner of the big race of the day....poor old guy could hardly walk.
Usually run the first weekend in March

Off the subject but as you seem to know the place well, I have a question.
When I was there I noticed a Roller outside the front entrance.
The number plate didn't have numbers just a "CROWN" on it. Who would that belong to?

Thanks for clearing that up for a moment I thought it might be The Ante-Post King
I was reading that Apostle was regarded as the best Bajan horse last year. He ran a decent race but looked to be outclassed at the end of the day.
How do the local horses compare to him this year and which would be the best of them?

well sterwins is grade 2 from canada run 3rd in the woodbine mile to ventura.bribon is a grade 1 miler from the usa. apostle is a local breed born in barbados i think he did well to run 3rd.apostle had beat bad action a grade 3 horse from new york just goes to show u owners have to bring a grade 2 horse or up to win in barbados we very good horses here.
i think the smith made a mistake bringing bribon last year he can only get a mile.there is a saying in barbados any good miler can get 9furlongs on the barbados track but i dont thik thats true.bribon was stoping bad in the end and was caught by sterwins the better stayer.the Callaghan horse JAIRZIHNO is the horse to beat this year bajans are awaiting to hear if his jockey patrick valenzuela is coming to barbados to ride him in the gold cup or if they useing some one else.u can enter at entry for the gold cup entries close on the 22 so people are awaiting to see if derek smith is going to enter one there might be a trick haha cause he took out bribon at the 2nd stage.
apostle has never beaten rocamador so may be harder for apostle to place this year.for me rocamador is our best chance.

I wouldn't trust Jairzihno as far as I could throw him. You should watch him on atr he's not up for going past. Doesn't seem to matter what clas he runs in flatteres to decieve.
I migght have a bet on Elizabul when the time comes. Any horse who can drop back from 1 mile to 5f and win must have plenty toe and round that track that could be an asset.
