Have read it, findsara, and difficult to know what to say. Reminded me of my book ‘Horse Heaven’; a fictional account of several American racehorses all of which are either in an upward or downward spiral. Sadly, our American friend pointed out to me that the author, Jane Smiley does not have the best track record when it comes to the after racing care of her own horses..bit like reading Black Beauty and being told that Anna Sewell had been prosecuted by the RSPCA for cruelty to animals. Alas, it’s the downside of our sport [well, one of them] and I don’t know what can be done other than highlight such things and support as many horse welfare charities as possible.
