Top end stuff and group race form is far more reliable of course. But bread and butter racing? Nine times out of ten you may as well stick a pin in.
I find the opposite usually holds true. Lower-class horses race more often, so the form that you are looking at is more representative of how the horse is currently. And few trainers bother using pacemakers or other such trickery in a race worth chump change.
