Thanks for the updates, BH. Is Choisir looking like he might be another Pivotal in that he’s a sprinter who gets offspring which are suited by a wide variety of trips?

This would certainly appear to be the case on the flat although it looks slightly different over jumps.

Choisir’s progeny have amassed 11 hurdle wins yet the longest distance occurred over only 2m2f at Cartmel and that winner was out of a Kahyasi mare. With the exception of Forever Waining, who himself is something of an anomaly, horses that have raced over two and a half miles have underperformed. By contrast, Pivotal’s offspring typically have no problems seeing out intermediate distances. Obviously, the Choisir sample is still relatively small but as of yet, the allusions to his jumps versatility aren’t particularly strong.
