Fascinating interview over three pages with Tommo in the Racing Post today.
He provides a few interesting insights into the circumstances of Channel 4 dispensing with his services from next year.
He got the news in a two-minute telephone conversation in which head of sport Jamie Aitchison did not even bother to ask him about how he was after his cancer treatment.
Tommo says that was "disappointing". It certainly would have been. Not to mention thoughtless and callous on Aitchison’s part.
Tommo and the others who are not being kept on have been banned from making any on-screen farewells and he says there has been no mention of any gathering to say goodbye to those long-serving members of the team who are leaving.
It’s all very shabby but it certainly doesn’t come as any great surprise.
Tommo seems to be taking it on the chin and boasts that he is getting even more work now.
Not only is there his lucrative Abu Dhabi-linked and globe-trotting Arabian horse coverage to look forward to but he is apparently getting even more Tommo TV racecourse bookings.
Meanwhile, it’s getting even harder to avoid the many mentions of and features about Clare Balding in the papers.
I’m just wading through a saccharine-sweet eulogy to her from her civil partner, Alice Arnold, over two pages.
She’s certainly never knowingly been undersold over the last few months.
