Excellent knowledge VTC so along with those three plus Killeshin there was Maneree and Carrickrovady i think ,so who was the 7th ?
Btw do you have full lists of entries for th 80's 90's and early 2000's
They would be interesting viewing, i used tp keep the old entry lists when published but they have got lost over the years
Needless to say VtC, I'd love to see such info as well!
Another thing I'm interested in would be GN non-runners through the 70s and 80s. Probably not many but sure there must be some. I remember the likes of Stormtracker and Why So Hasty being declared and not taking part in the 90s.
Apologies to Viking Flagship for hijacking their thread. Happy to take it elsewhere.
Hello OA, just replied to Honeysdad re: the entries, I'll try to get finger out.
These are the non runners/withdrawals I can think of, I've a niggling feeling I've missed one.
1980 Man Alive & Wagner
1981 Artistic Prince
1990 Sacred Path & Why So Hasty
1993 Just So
1994 Bishops Hall, Rifle Range, Windy Ways
1996 Plastic Spaceage
1997 Plastic Spaceage, Belmont King, Over The Stream, Master Boston
1998 Stormtracker
2004 Thyneandthyneagain
PS apologies also to Viking Flagship, sorry to disrupt thread.

I would be very surprised if we get anything less than 40 runners on the day baring any last second withdrawals. All we can really guarantee is that we will get our first National with horses running out of the handicap in 8 years(?)
Still a very classy list and i too would love to see some full lists of years gone by

Only 40 yards to go, Devon Loch can't lose...

I'm with you, Peter. The only way there'll be fewer than 40 runners is if there's a late withdrawal or two IMVHO.

Cooldine interests me. If Planet Of Sound has a good chance, as I believe he has, Cooldine must have a similar one, and is 50s with some bookmakers.
His race against P Of S in the Punchestown Guinness Gold Cup in April 2008 was RP-rated 6 lbs inferior to the former.
A multiple Grade 1 winner, he is set to carry 17lbs less than his highest official handicap mark, 11 lbs less than his highest winning mark, and is trained by W P Mullins. A ten-year old, lightly-raced for one reason or another in the past few years. No not Mr Mullins.

First glance would suggest Cooldine has got in well at the weights.
Burton Port could turn out to be another well in considering the level of form he's shown in the past
Fair Along is a horse that could well come alive over these fences. Nina got a real tune out of him in The Hennessey, I've thought for a while that he'd be an ideal cross country horse and could see him run a big race if faced with a new challange.
That's on a five minute glance on a race I usually have no more than a fiver ew on for fun on the day

The late, great An Siorrac would have won at least one Cheltenham Gold Cup, RIP, your star never had the chance to shine as brightly as it would have done.
