Say I’m betting on the 5.30 at Ayr, can I place bets on 4 horses in that race, with 4 different bookies?
Is this legal/allowed with UK/Irish online bookmakers?
I have googled same without an answer, and did not see any mention of it in any T&Cs I read (not that I went into too much detail).

You can place as many bets as you wish, on different horses, with as many bookies as you like. However if you’re backing horses at SP (that’s starting prices) then it doesn’t matter where you place your bet as the horses in question will be the same price no matter where you go.
If you’re backing early morning prices or Ante Post the could be variations in prices and like shopping in supermarkets you have to look round for the best deals. (Oddschecker) http://www.oddschecker.com/ is a helpful tool to compare prices.
Rather than spend the time walking to different bookies, it could be easier to open up different accounts online.
However I strongly advise to bet only within your means, and with money you can afford to lose.
