Yes

But of course for every person who does think that there will be at least two that would rather see RUK make themselves look like ATR and be free like ATR.

What in gods name is the sound over the commentary on ATR, it sounds like they are recording from the Tote inside the betting hall.

This is shambolic, I really appreciate the update and effort in bringing us a better channel which I'm positive will work in time but you'd have thought a few test runs could have been put in place before launch.

Horrific.

Seconded.

As another fan of the old style Racing Review (like many I work during the week), the fact that whole meetings are being omitted or reviewed as "highlights" is shocking.

Likewise, rather then the structured schedule of programming (Sunday Forum, World of Racing, Irish Angle etc, we now have to guess when these segments will take place.

Also agree that the graphics look like something off a computer simulator. Urgh!!!!

It's going to be a real shame if they are going to truncate the racing review.
I work full-time and scarcely get time to watch any racing so it's been great occasionally to record the Racing Review to watch on a Saturday morning or something.
I usually do it for jumps meetings, the latest examples being for Hexham, Hereford, Newton Abbot and Worcester. Haven't watched any of them yet but sounds like it will hardly be worth my while at this rate.
No doubt they will eventually have a rethink, go back to what it used to be for the full-length review and sell it as "listening to audience reaction". I can see the press release now: "We take the views of our valued viewers very seriously and, after listening to a range of opinions from viewers, we are delighted to announce that..."
Ricky Lake will be enjoying all this criticism of ATR. When they even tinker around with showing replays of the "dross", as Ricky would call it, things really are coming to a fine state of affairs.

Sorry if I appear to be on a downer about ATR today, but all the flash studio sets in the world do not make up for the banal and inept presentation (I of course accept this may be in part due to the poor level of racing knowledge employed in the back room).

This morning we have had to endure self styled so called "expert" John Berry kindly informing us that there is no way that Black Caviar ran up to her best form on Saturday. Thank you but we f***ing know that - she tore muscles and this fact was publicised on Sunday morning.

I cannot help but feel the work that goes into producing ATR shows is minimal and as already hinted the blame for this must fall firmly on the producers and their assistants. The presenters do themselves no favours though, and I am sure the RUK guys would appear professional irrespective of the level of support they receive from the production team because they are simply infinitely more knowledgable about the aport.

This really gets my back up regarding the 4:45 Doncaster, you've got an exciting 10F Fillies Maiden but the advert doesn't finish until 4:44.35s leaving you with no analysis but more aggravatingly no paddock shots at all.

What's the point of a Horse Racing channel if you can't assess the physical attributes and well being of the horse at all?

The programme is produced by SIS who are owned by a group of boomakers including Hills, Ladbrokes and Fred Done. SIS produce Coral TV which is beamed into Coral shops.

Unfortunately it is therefore to presume that it is not in the interest of the owners and associated companies of ATR to assist punters in making any money, quite the opposite in fact.

I'm willing to allow ATR to make a few mistakes upon their relaunch, but just now showing where today's racing is they showed the graphic for yesterday's meetings....

Its getting really embarrassing to watch the channel now as the production values have plummeted.

Back on the subject of Racing Reviews, noticed that the Aussie coverage now continues between 6 & 9 (according to Sky schedules anyway).

Except on Saturdays (when most Aussie Group races are run) and the odd occasion (such as Japan Cup), why not use the 6-9am slot for the full review and the daytime slots for highlights packages.

Likewise, why not have 7 day rolling race replays behind the red button (where you choose a meeting and then the individual race - like on the website)?

ATR - you need to sort yourselves out pronto as you are losing a lot of friends if this thread is anything to go by!

It's really annoying that the last letters of the horse's names are often missing from the result card on the racing reviews.
At Newton Abbot on Tuesday, the winner Olympian Boy was shown as Olympian B' which was ludicrous as there was plenty of space for the full name.
The name of the second horse was also abbreviated but still was longer than that of Olympian Boy, so there would presumably have been ample space for the last two letters of Boy. It's absolutely crazy and totally unnecessary.
At least the full names of the runners are being spelled out on the betting show before the race is shown on the reviews.
